Reflecting an "art de vivre"

A former Gallo-Roman city and French capital between the 15th and 16th centuries, daily life in Tours flows like the two rivers that run through it. With its medieval quarter a model of restoration and vitality, the city is symbolic of the "art de vivre" celebrated by so many authors and great names in French history.

A city of art and history, Tours is a must to discover:

A rich historic, cultural and architectural heritage
The pedestrianised Plumereau quarter, bustling with activity day and night.
Proud bearer of the title "France’s Garden" with 630 hectares of greenery and one of the oldest flower markets in France, every Wednesday and Saturday in the town centre.

The Guilds Museum - A unique collection of works renowned world-wide.

Guided tour of Le Manach factory - An insight into the silk industry in the region.

The lantern trail - A nightime discovery tour of the city’s architecture.

"Vitiloire" - A celebration of Loire Valley wines in a fun (and tasty!) format. (Mid-May).

"Rayons Frais", in mid-July, is a celebration of street art (dance, readings, theatre and plastic art design...).

"The enormous market" - On the first Sunday of September the whole town centre is transformed into an enormous Bazaar.
